I did some BTC mining about 6 years ago. Thought it had been a waste of time and earned next to nothing. I found out a couple of days ago that I had earned almost one BTC, which was transferred to my wallet. I don't recall ever receiving an email to tell me. I only found out when checking old emails, where I came across the pool I was/am in.
Well - that is where the problem starts. I tracked down the site my wallet is with (Blockchain) and need my wallet ID in order to login and access it. I have no record that I can find of either the wallet ID or recovery phrase. It was suggested by the support team that if I have the email address and IP that I signed on from, and the date, within a week either way, then they MAY be able to help.
OK, I may not have burned a pile of money. But I am no detective! Found the email from when I joined the pool, but none relating to the wallet. Hopefully the date on the email is the same as for my wallet. Email address hasn't changed, I've used Hotmail for well over 10 years.
Last problem is the IP address. I was with the same ISP for 10 years, until the end of last year. Hm, can't just check my current IP. Over the years, due to the high price I was paying for a cable connection, with no loyal customer discount, there were brief periods where my account was suspended for a few days. No idea whether I had the same IP each time they reconnected me.
Fortunately, Genna has some old records, and was able to find an IP address I used last summer! Here's hoping that all the jigsaw pieces slot together - it's enough to pay off almost all my high interest debts and in turn free up money to pay off what I owe in here faster than I have been
First world problems! Never before found out I have misplaced the equivalent of about $3500 for five years _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

What's more of a shame is you didn't find out about it a year ago when the price was $10k!! _________________ My former Intel collection:

After more research, with UK electric prices (I am with one of the cheaper fully green suppliers) the electric bill would be higher than the earnings at the moment. I'm not in a position to speculate by buying expensive hardware and electric and hoping for the price to rise again. Still got too many bills to pay
Gonna stick with Folding@home for now. At least I can say I did something useful _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

I don't think anyone makes money out of bitcoin mining these days, not unless you steal power from somewhere _________________ My former Intel collection:

Some up in Washington that probably still do, power so cheap there (Lake Chelan area) as to be nearly free _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

Aaargh! I gave Blockchain my details, and they have no record of me, even with the IP address on the day I started mining! I know I am disorganised, but losing access to that much money is a new one even for me! _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

I feel for you debs. Bit of a luckier story on my side though but pretty similar. I've been pretty heavy into dogecoin just after it's release, been mining it for like a half a year with a decent rig. Then cashed out almost at top, converting it into bitcoin which yielded just over 17BTC. happy days. Worth nothing then 2 years ago been clearing my workshop at home and gone trough my old hard drives and found my wallet. Totally forgot about it. Check price, is over 10k, read news is going up some predicting over 100k / btc, so got greedy didn't sold at top and now not willing to Hope there will be an another bull run in the future |
