I have a spare Intel Core i7-5775C SR2AG (used but still have the original box)...
Should I sell it now, or is there any chance that it becomes a highly sought CPU in 10-15 years?
Or the value would simply plummet below $10? What is your guess :p ?
Maybe only the QJBG Es may become interesting?
Broadwell Mainstream Desktop CPUs were already very rare when they were released as Skylake overshadowed them almost completely, so they might become really hard to find after 2030 Lol...

I reckon keep it for a while. Not sure what your local market is like, but over here 1150/ddr3 is only going lower and no one wants to buy a 5775c.
QJBG is just a QS, so it won't have too much extra value in the future.

How do you distinguish between Qs and Es? Do all ES have "ES" marked?
Else, looks like there is not much interest for now from collectors. I will come back in 2040... Also wonder how much will a 8086K be worth at this time too :p .

Almost always, an ES will ID itself in CPU-Z etc as "GenuineIntel 0000 2.5GhZ (ES)" or something like that. It will usually have a pre-retail stepping, but not always.
A QS will be identical to the production specs, and ID itself as "I7-8700K (ES)" etc.
The one exception I can remember off the top of my head is the QE6S 4770K QS that IDs itself as such but has pre-retail FIVR bugs. |

Indeed, just found a screenshot in Google Image that says "Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-5775C CPU @ 3.30GHz (ES)" (which is still misleading as it says "ES").
Then I guess that the way to distinguish them is to look for CPU-Z screenshots if I don't own the CPU.

CPU-Z doesn't know the s-spec or qdf-spec, so is not the most reliable for that. It tells you everything else though

And yup, that's a QS.

Yeah, that's what HWInfo64 is for (though it sometimes gets the Qspec wrong). |
