Today's morning suprise is this ended auction :
https://allegro.pl/oferta/procesor-amd-k6-2-podstawka-pga370-7766384919

The question of that unparallel combination is what happen next :
a) CPU will blow out taking all bad souls to hell
b) Computer instead of BIOS POST will show text "What the hell are you doing ?"
c) your suggestion here

I like "What will happen" challenge Laughing

There´s mine:

1) No post
2) Burn out
3) Boot it

If there were any slot 1 motherboards that didn't use an Intel chipset, that is what I would test. Perhaps a SiS chipset? My guess is that nothing will happen.

My bet is on 1st option.
Dont test it.

Completely different pinout
https://flylib.com/books/en/4.57.1.22/1/

That seller did "magic" to fit that cpu on that adapter.

I'm not even able to do this ... I'm not the "lucky" winner Smile

I'm thinking of his inspiration too ...

In that case I would bet for 2) with little sparkles Smile

Someone took too seriously my avatar (and improved it by changing Pentium to K6-2)? Very Happy

EDIT: I used that (broken) adapter in cleaning CPUs and drilling one hole, it can be used with socket 7 CPUs also. It helps protecting pins when cleaning top surface.

Nice patent Smile I will keep one PPGA to Slot 1 adapter for same purpose + testing straight of pins.

If you ask about the VIA C7 in the Asus CT-479, then it't a definite 3. I've tested a C7-M 754 (Esther core) in an Asus P4C800, it did even boot WinXP and run CPU-Z and other things. It was very slow for a P4C800 based system, though.

But I admit that I was quite hesitant to try it Razz

Oh really? Shocked I´m testing it right now on Asus P4GPL-X, it doesn´t post, even not a single beep. Confused At least it doesn´t damage adapter or board.
It´s a incredible find that VIA´s V4 bus is the same as Intel´s Quad Pumped Bus. Intel now can sue VIA for stolen technology. Laughing

It's a long known fact, e.g. C7-M works with 915G chipset:
https://web.archive.org/web/20060623041756/http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/akiba/hotline/20060617/etc_c7479m.html
Afaik even desktop C7 with socket 478 was planned.
Looks like VIA V4 bus is basically a renamed AGTL+ QPB.

Oh nice, thanks. So I will start to look after Asus P4C800 or some ITX board with Asus P4C800 and 479 socket. Very Happy

I think some P4P800 variants will suffice too, it only needs to support the CT-479 adapter.

According to this link quite a few Asus boards have the BIOS support (it probably needs to be upgraded but Asus does still have the BIOS' online):

https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/CT-479/

P4P800 SE, P4P800-VM, P4P800-E, P4C800-E, P4GD1, P4GPL-X

I've tried it (the adapter, not that particular C7 CPU) with P4P800-E, P4P800-VM, P4C800, P4C800-E. Surely the P4C800 line was the best among them because it supports both FSB and multiplier settings in it BIOS setup. The P4P800-E won't let you change the multiplier but you're free to set any FSB you wand (and the CPU can take). The P4P800-VM was an oddball, IIRC it let me set a different multiplier but I couldn't touch the FSB...

I hope I helped to broaden your scope of search Smile
