Well, according to the Intel Pentium Processor Specification Update (release number 041, January 1999, page 15), the Pentium 100 has an ICOMP of 815.
So maybe it is a production fault?

I can confirm 99% that iComp 810 SX962s are genuine and that they are not random as it appears.

Still collecting a bit more info to back my statement up, but will retease the info soon.

If you confirm at 99%, what do you do at 100%? Throw a party?

as the engraved markings were not done till after testing was done and sorting by test date shows that icomp 810 wasn't random.

but it will still not tell us why Intel changed icomp and then back again to the original value

still missing the die marking information on some chips, but this is a work in progress and additional info will be added

Amazing amount of research, Stu! Surprised

How do you make the time?? Do you have a direct pipeline to Intel HQ archives? Wink

Reviving this subject, as I just found that my goldtop SX926 was iComp 810. C449088W-0197
Wonder if they had production problems, adding some latency in L1 cache, to be able to run at 100 MHz. On the contrary, it would be strange that it would affect all locations, then, unless the dies are all made the same place and the factory mentioned is the place of assembly?
