My CPU Sales - General Comment

I just want to notify people buying from my sales that I can not guarantee that any of the chips will work. I'm sure a lot of them do but I have no way of testing, so you shouldn't be buying them expecting they will be working CPUs. They are all be sold as collection pieces...but if they do work, then you have a real bonus. And engineering samples are a case in point - these are sold for rarity value only.

Obviously this isn't the case with ones like 4004, 4040, 8008 etc where I have specifically tested them and advised they are working.

Working condition only if clearly stated otherwise you are selling as untested - that sale rule is from begining from that what I remember.

I am very content with ALL the past sales I made through Sale/Trade (collectable items) here.
This post is is just a humble suggestion for improvement.

Would it be an idea to...
- Put what Marcin is writing above in the stickified post, or in each sale header?
- Have a statement on the status of the CPU pins if no info or photo of the bottom is given?

I admit that I try to make quick decisions, based on the sale descriptions and whatever photo attached, to it to decide on the chances of a functional CPU.

Also I never harmed a CPU. Okay I did once, but it was not on purpose.

I got lucky - all three of my ES from your sales work fine.

It is commonly agreed that by default, we are selling Schrödinger CPUs, even though the cat have 99.9% chance to survive.

It would be nice if everyone stated the physical state of every chip sold (and even better if either tested or described as coming from a scrap bin). Unfortunately, with the quantities some members trade, that is often impractical, and chips should be assumed dead unless described otherwise. A lot of sales here start out as scrap lots as well, so it is prudent to assume some bent pins.

I almost exclusively collect x86, and like to test them from time to time, so would love to always buy chips that are tested and working, but gambling on cheap chips gets me far more decent, working chips.

Listing 63 chips at $8 each and all ES...there is no way I'm going to waste time describing the condition of each one. Would you pay $30 each if they were tested and 100% confirmed that all pins are straight? Because that's what they are worth (minimum) if that is the case.
As debs said, most of these come from scrap lots, so are never treated well to begin with. I pack all these well so they won't get any damage in transit, but most ebay sellers are lucky to even put any kind of protection on them. In fact, I'bought a bunch of rare Pentium ceramic ES years ago...was shipped in a box, so when they turned up there were nice little pieces of ceramic everywhere. There was no comeback as the seller sold them as scrap....he just made sure they really were scrap when they arrived
