486DX2-vXX is a low voltage version of the classic 486DX2-XX (3,3V - 3,45V instead of 5V), for mobile purpose I think Wink

the V is a lower voltage core, and all 'V' marked chips are fabbed by IBM. Voltages range from 3.3-4.0Volts depending on the process.

I think all Cyrix chips are made by either IBM or SGS Thomson, no matter which type.

V means low voltage, but is not a sign for mobile application.

IBM, ST, and TI actually. With IBM taking the majority since the DX2 days.
