This March marks the 10 year Anniversary of the AVICC system

What started as a way to help keep track of a couple dozen members chips and sales has ballooned into a 40+ hours/week endeavor

A look at recent year end summaries can give you a glimpse
http://www.cpu-world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=31877

AVICC use to be a hobby but now its a job lol, and as I recently got laid off from one of my 'normal' jobs it is even more so LOL

This leads to some proposed changes and additions to AVICC

I would like to introduce a supporter structure, to help with keeping AVICC viable

Currently people donate to AVICC (chips/$$) which is great and helps, I would like to bring some structure to that.
What I DON'T want to do is make AVICC a paid service, s there are plenty of collectors that can't afford that, and that's fine, more money for chips and all

So what I propose is sponsorship/supporter levels that go to support AVICC/CPU Shack
Something along the lines of:

Bit-Slicer: FREE-$24
4-Bit Supporter: $25-49/year
8-Bit Supporter: $50-99/Year
16-bit Supporter: $100-199/year
32-bit Supporter: $200+

Additional Feature:
Throughout the last 10 years I have added several additions to AVICC, including Ship Assist for receiving packages, and Bid Assist, for purchasing things for members, as well as Chip Pay to facilitate payments between members whilst avoiding Paypal.

Ship Assist now accounts for something like 2000 packages/year , the Post Office had to realign my mail route to support that, to give you an idea the amount of packages that is LOL

Want List:
We all have a few chips we are chasing, not necessarily some hyper rare thing like a Nexgen 686 but that one chip to fill a hole in a set of speeds or whatever.

Members ask me all the time and most the time I remember but sometimes I forget (who can imagine lol) so I want to add a section in AVICC where members can add a few (say 5-Cool chips they are chasing, then when I find them I can quickly see if anyone in particular was really chasing one.

Thoughts?

EDIT 1: It was asked why the different sponsorship levels,
Mainly just to give different status levels, bragging rights if ya will, but eventually I may use them to give priority for tings like the Want List, I want to make a good balance though and not disadvantage those who cant afford as much though

Sounds all perfectly fair and reasonable to me. I was always amazed at how much work you did without any payment! Always appreciated having this service available for chips and non-chips

That all sounds good to me. The time will come (despite Brexit) that I will be able to start making the odd donation Smile

I think charging for some services makes the most sense and keeps things affordable for those using basic features while recovering costs and time on the extras in a proportional way.

Something like :
Box where chips and things can be sent - free
For sellers sending to AVICC - a sorting charge per package recieved.
Ship assist - a flat fee per package recieved.
Chip pay - keep current fees.

As that would be pay as you go, there wouldn't be the sort of affordability shock that an annual fee/gratuity might bring to some.

I have thought of that, especially for sellers
Some do pay me already some give freebies, some neither

THe users that do donate currently, typically do so on a annual or semi-annual basis, so I designed it to be inline with what was already done
That also helps me budget my own finances easier on a yearly basis

I will support you.
I don't know how you can manage all the mess I send your way for free haha. That's why I donate.

I'll get at least a 16bit level membership.

Congratulations with the anniversary.

That want list sounds like a great idea.

For a starter, sign me up for the $100 plan (that's only $25 each quarter, sounds cheap for the service you offer).

Sounds conclusive to me, as dealing with all the purchases and sales of our processors means an incredible amount of time and effort. And the maintain of AVICC does not work on its own. I see me as an 8-bit or even 16-bit supporter.

I am happy to donate $25 per quarter.
Just add it to my AVICC Account

I like whole idea with getting sponsors and Want List. Even with small and seldom donations from time to time from most members which use it can upkeep that great idea which AVICC is.
