Hi all!
Have a pair minutes to write this small survey.
When you buying chips, especially rare, when you looking first?:
1.Not cracked, chiped
2.Nice, clear print
3.No missing pins
4.Working
This is my example, please copy/paste this, but change numbers and places by your priority
Thanks _________________ Regards,

0.Price
1.No missing pins in same time hardly bent ones which are awful because there is much risk to do it yourself when straightening
2.Not cracked, chiped
3.Nice, clear print
4.Working _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

It depends. If it is not rare:
1.Not cracked, chipped, nice clear print, no missing pins
2.Working
If it's rare:
1.Not cracked, chipped OR Nice, clear print, preferably not both
3.No missing pins
4.Working |

1.Not cracked, chipped/Nice, clear print (I would simply call either "appearance" as they are detrimental to the look of the chip about equally to me)
2.No missing pins
3.Working
If it's a rare PGA I'm hoping it has a missing pin or isn't working, so I can afford it. These are things that aren't apparent when the chip is on display. |

For RARE chips, I agree with original post
1.Not cracked, chipped
2.Nice, clear print
3.No missing pins
4.Working
but most chips in my collection are not rare - I like to test my x86 CPUs. For those,
1.Working
2.Not cracked, chipped
3.No missing pins
4.Nice, clear print |

I like my chips to be working (mostly if they are newer-ish and I have the ability to test them).
If it's a rare oddball, I'm fine with any sort of damage (as long as it's a heck of a lot cheaper than a pristine unit).
1. Working
2. Nice, clear print
3. No missing pins
4. Not cracked / chipped |

1/2 switch a lot, I have some nice CPUs that are chipped but work fine so its not a big deal
And sometimes I can get a DIP working with a missing pin, so thats cool too _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!
