I just bought uhhhh... 1156 processors today... and I have no idea what I'm getting. (I think it was a good price too, breaks even at scrap value)
I don't think I would have done this not too long ago, but here I am.
When did you guys cross the "threshold" into kinda absurd quantities of chips? _________________ My collection |

I recently realised I'd spent $400 AUD + on chips in my collection. I knew there was no turning back then _________________ My WTB List

When I realized that a processor in my collection was better than my current gaming rig's processor, I knew something was up.
It all started with 1 processor, then 3, then 15.
All it takes is one try. CPU collectors anonymous. _________________ My CPU List (Trades and For Sale) |

When I found out, that a "CPU-collection" was none of my idea, and that it was almost as "normal" as collecting stamps or coins
Oh yeah, and when I found out that an i487SX existed .. |

So very true
My laptop desperately needed replaced (first gen i7 lol) buuuut that kind of money buys a lot of nice CPUs for the collection LOL
And when I started collection EPROMs, and GPUs, and DSPs....yah then I knew I was done for
(also one look at AVICC and that pretty much says the same thing lol) _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

I will hopefully have pictures within the next week or so. And yes, I plan to make plenty of the extra chips available on this forum before they end up anywhere else. _________________ My collection |

when I realized that just about 5 percent of my chips made 95 percent of my real interest and also value I decided to get rid of the majority of my collection. So now I just have kept about 10 tO 20 CPUs which are "modern" - newer than a 80286. I focus on 70ies stuff. Still a challenge.
And speaking of computers, there's still some space on my attic lol _________________ You may use the photos I have posted here under CC BY-NC-SA license. |

When you get a tray of CPUs and get more excited about the tray then the CPUs in it?
I may, or may not have bought CPUs just for the trays before LOL _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

When you think that if you could build a computer running all your collection, you'd enter the TOP500 supercomputer list... _________________ Life is a long lesson in humility |
