What chips would I need to make a Intel 4040 work?

Hello. I want to make a very simple system using an Intel 4040, like a blinking light or something. I don't know much about circuitry other than what certain parts do.

Does anyone know what components I would need to accomplish this? I plan on using a breadboard.

Thanks! I would also appreciate any assistance in designing this system.

Very Happy

Edit: Would a blinking light on an Intel 8080 be easier or harder? Maybe the components are easier to find than a 4040's components.

8080 would be much easier.
4040 requires exotic non-TTL logic voltage levels - standard logic, ram, rom will be not compatible.
Most likely you would need at least 4002 ram and 4289 rom interface chips which are not trivial to find.

With 8080 you can use very cheap and easy to find components.

It would even make it more easier if you use the 8085 instead of 8080. The 8085 uses only 5 Volts supply line instead of three voltage supplies that uses at an older processor.

6502 Z80 or 8085 al would be relatively easy to interface too
