| I have a celeron to test but no HS, I have several P2, K7, and PPro heat sinks; can I use one of them by just putting it on top of the celeron? |

Yes. I have done that too. keep the motherboard flat, and make sure the heatsink face is flat. Also use some thermal grease, but not too much, just enough to cover the top of the cpu. Push the heatsink down, the thermal grease will hold it in place. Use a fan too. The colder the heatsink the better the heat transfer from the cpu.
Clearly, this is not as efficient - or safe - as a designed heatsink, but it will work if you know what you are doing.
Try it out on a radiator or heater ( without the thermal grease) if you dont believe me |

You can test a P4 or celeron chip to post without a heatsink.
P4's will cut out automatically before any damage is done.
However to do a full test I of course recommend you install the corrcet HSF. _________________ 4000+ chips.
