|
|
Let's start a new "competition" about the NEWEST 80486 produced by Intel.
According to many reports, the last order for 486 was 30 March 2007, with last shipment on 28 September 2007. That's week 39, 2007.
It's very interesting to get a production timeline from oldest to newest 486s Maybe we can also define exactly when Intel switched to new logo.
Let's go !
Please post a picture and the marking of your newest 486!
Current Standing:
1st - xhoba - 2008, Week 03 - L8037A02 - DX4-100 (SK096)
2nd - CPUShack - 2007, Week 52 - L7507A15 - DX4-100 (SK096) _________________ ES-Only Collector : http://www.engineering-sample.com

Why Intel didn't put their new logo on others cpu such as this celeron from same year, 2008 :
And the new logo on those dx4 doesn't feet with official one from 2006 (the letter T is not the same) |

Probably some final assembly location was still using the old silkscreen machine before phase out |

| There might be some late ones floating around I think the last ship date really means for new orders so any outstanding agreements can have processors made well after. I saw them tearing down a register terminal at Tim Hortons two summers ago and there was a 386 clearly visible in the terminal. I'd imagine if the design was agreed upon and the order outstanding before the last ship date they continue to produce the processors for those contracts just don't accept new orders. I do know one of the less sophisticated color matching machines for paint ran on 386s well into the early 2000s. I'd imagine 486s were in the same boat. |
