|
|
This is an IBM proprietary adaptor to upgrade a 20MHz/25MHz 386SX or 386SLC to a 40MHz/50MHz 486SLC2. It's for IBM PS/2 Model 56 or 57. Plugs into a coprocessor socket. The pulled coprocessor can be installed into a brown socket on the adaptor.
$60 + $8 registered worldwide postage
1 available, 2 sold

I sold a lot of those upgrades back in the day to corporate
customers in the IBM 9556 / 9557 / 8556 / 8557 microchannel PS/2's.
Seems like they were used in POS environments like pharmacies, etc.
Nice one! |

Thanks for the info Glory_Cloud. I'm able to see inside some old POS systems so I will take a look around _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

The PS/2 8856 / 8557, yes. These were the original model 56 SX / 56 SLC / 57 SX / 57 SLC made in 1991 or 1992. The PS/2 9556 / 9557 were later designs which came with the 486SLC2 or 486SLC3 factory installed. Nice MCA machines, too.
I may have more of these upgrades in the near future. _________________ My Active Sales |

| Do you think it will work with an Intel 387SX or only with 387SL ? |

I think it doesn't really matter. These PS/2 models came with Intel 387SX usually. _________________ My Active Sales |

I have two more of these upgrades available. No bent or broken pins, all good. _________________ My Active Sales |
