More to keep ya busy thenb anything.
How about a list of mergers, aquisitions, and name changes in the CPU industry.

I'll start out.

Atmel (formerally Temic)
SGS mergered with Thomson(France) to form ST

Intersil (sold)-> General Electric (sold GE Solid State)-> Harris (spun-off)-> Intersil.

RCA (sold)-> General Electric -> see above.

Fairchild Semiconductor (sold)-> National Semiconductor (spun-off)-> Fairchild Semiconductor.

MOS Technologies (sold)-> Commodore

Signetics (sold)-> Valvo (sold)-> Philips.

GI (sold)-> Microchip

funny hoe intersil disappears and reappears.

Cyrix(sold 1997)->National Semi(sold 1999)->VIA
IDT Winchip division (sold 1999)->VIA

Rockwell(name change 2000?)->Conexant

Dallas(sold 2002)->Maxim

Nexgen(sold 1995)->AMD

MMI(sold to) ->AMD

C-Cube->bought by LSI Logic

CHIPS->Bought by Intel

DEC->Bought by Compaq->Merged with HP

GTE->Merged with Bell Atlantic to form Verizon
Processors sold to CMD as far as I can tell

IIT->Renamed to 8x8

United Technologies bought Mostek in 1980, then sold Mostek to SGS-ATES in 1981.

NCR->Bought by ATT(1991)->Name change to ATT GIS(94)->Spun off as NCR(1997)->Sold hardware division to Solectron(1998)
