|
|
It took me a bit to get around to unbending and testing these, but they are pretty neat parts.
As with the ones I sold a few months back, these are unmarked QJUD parts. 1.66GHz dual-core 4M cache. They are Merom A1 stepping and run stable. I tested every chip in my Dell XPS M1710 running the A07 BIOS.
These are some of the earliest known functioning Core 2 chips I've been able to track down.

I'll take one week 34.
Now it's not unusual for Intel to make mobile version first, but for middle 2000s I am surprised that first core 2 samples were mobile. |

Merom and Yonah both descend from the Pentium M lineage, so it's not too much of a surprise.
I always figured it made more sense since at this point, the differences between mobile chips and full desktop chips was very small. Not needing to manufacture a heatspreader and assemble the chip probably makes them cheaper to test. _________________ My collection |

I also have a good number of week 39 chips if anyone is interested. (haven't counted them up yet) _________________ My collection |
