Hello,
I have a Toshiba Satellite C670-1DV with a i3-380M, and would like to upgrade to a i7-620M.

I didn't find any information online whether somebody succeeded. It is the C670 with the 1st iCore generation (Socket G1).

comparing the specs (I cannot post links - but specs can easily compared on cpu-world)

it looks like it should be possible. However, the C670 was only sold with a i3-380M, so I'm not sure if the bios (latest is 1.4) has the microcodes of the i7.

You should have no problems running any of the dual-core i7 chips.

Hello,

thanks, I will try it out! Might take some time, as it's a laptop of a friend I'm going to upgrade. Does anybody know of important improvements between stepping C2 and K2? Not for overclocking, more regarding e.g. power consumption.

if anyone thinks of doing the same: I did it a couple of weeks back and it was super easy. Laptops works since then. nice performance improvement, especially with encrypted disks (i7 has AES hardware support).
