....there was an older topic on which cpu was going for most expensive now a days....Well, am I seeying this right?

It is more than a cpu
It is not on Ebay but in a regular Store
It is not sold

I dont care what it is, Why would a pc store sell this for that much???

ps , its a server part ! Yup I get it , but still, its not a car !!!

It is a normal price for a SUN server product.
Even if those stuff gets old they freeze the price at any time so you may find a 16 GB harddrive or 100 MBit ethernet cards for some hundred $$.

1 GHz frequency on SUN CPUs is not that old like Intel!

nevertheless, those products are very overpriced.
But ... that's SUN:-)

If you want to buy HP or Compaq replacement parts you can pay even 50% more compared to a retailer.

Nothing new with SUN. Over-evaluation is a matter of cash... most costumers don't know anything about computers, they just believe and think about tax deductions.

Wow really?.......I never knew Sun spark was that expensive.

Although ,I did know server gear(replacement part) were not cheap...guess it makes sence....but ya, slightly over price there Wink

my first sun workstation, a sun ipx back in early ,
'90ies with 40mhz and 16mb ram cost about 25000 dollars...

LOL..coulda bought upgrades for my car with that amount of $ Very Happy



Its ridiculous how expensive PC's were back then, and now you find them on the side of the road at the trash!
At lease now the prices are fairly reasonable...

and my first 3 mb memory expansion was cheap at 450 dollars in 1987.

i am sure others here paid more at some earlier time
