X79A LGA1356

For testing LGA1356 Xeons. You don't have plenty of choice of LGA1356 motherboards in the wild, and at that price it is the only option.

I got one and it is working very well, associated with 16Go of ECC Registered memory + a 128GB M2 SSD from Kingspec.

https://www.passmark.com/baselines/V9/display.php?id=128492357246

Can run B0 Engineering samples without any problem (not A1 though, but I don't know any motherboard that does).

Tested working ES chips :
QAG1 (B0) - https://valid.x86.fr/5ngqpw
QAG4 (B0) - https://valid.x86.fr/kyferi
QBGJ (C1) - https://valid.x86.fr/btf1ge

Not working :
Q19L (A1)
Q19Q (A1)

X89

for testing Socket G34 Opterons. Not really common to find a G34 motherboard at that price. Comes with the heatsink !

Got one yesterday and tested today. No problem, except that my power supply is too weak for 12 cores Opterons...

I add this one even if you can get cheaper used Asrock or Gigabyte FM2 motherboards

Thanks for sharing us those infos. Propably I will order a nice one for Socket G34 Opterons. You had to use RECC memory or it works with standard desktop DDR3 ? Have you tested those ES from crazybubba64 ?

I used regular DDR3. The only Opteron I managed to run so far with my power supply is a 6128. I also tested a 6238, and my power supply is crashing during Windows 10 install, after reaching 315-320W of full system consumption (on the plug). The 6128 stays below 270W.
I also tested a 6212, but it won't boot...
Tomorow I will try with the ZS200800TCE25 I got from Crazybubba but I don't think my power supply will like it...

From CPU World database info Opteron 6238 have :
Average CPU Power 80 Watt
Thermal Design Power 115 Watt
Are you using power hungry VGA with that configuration or CPU takes much more than is stated in database ? What king of PSU you use ?

I'm using an ATI Radeon 5870. Not so hungry I think, but the powermeter can't lie.

I'm using an old 480W PSU from the P4 era. I think that 12V line is really too weak.

With the 6238, Windows 10 won't install. But now it is installed using the 6128, I will try again tomorow with the 6238 and the other ones I have.

I wish I knew about the G34 board back when I was testing those CPUs. I had a whole HP Proliant DL385 I had to lug around to POST test all of them.

Might pick up a few of these.

Reference spec for the HD 5870 is 188 W, so not exceptionally high.
