| I seem to remember seeing a photo of a Slot 1 CPU with BGA cache chips rather than the usual QFP type. It was an OLGA flip chip core with the two cache chips on one side like the layout of late Pentium II 450 and Pentium III Katmai CPUs. I've been searching the forum and Google for a couple hours now and can't find it. I figured maybe I saw it here and someone will have the photo or a link. |

This appears to be the thread I was looking for, but the image links are no longer working after 17 years : http://www.cpu-world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=205
I figured it was a Q567, and the fact that xsecret had one which was marked as a PII 400 mostly confirms my suspicion. |

A Q567 just sold on ebay recently (and I didn't win it ), so lets hope whoever got it is a member of this forum and can solve the mystery. _________________ My collection |

Two Q567's sold recently on eBay from the same seller. The second went quite a bit cheaper. Too bad I won the first one.
I got around to testing my Q567 today and it's not POSTing. I tried it a 66 x 6.0, 100 x 4.0, 66 x 3.0, 100 x 5.0, etc.
I added a photo showing the BGA cache chips (left).
Also, xsecret, that DC1EC501A400 KATMAI is probably my holy grail of Slot 1 CPUs besides the Q999 Klamath. Such a cool CPU. |

Found it's brother, Q568!
It's marked as 450 MHz rather than 400, but still has the unusual 80524 Celeron model number. It's dated 3 weeks earlier than the Q567: Week 25, 1998. It also has BGA L2 cache chips, but they do not work in the P3V4X board I tested it on.
xsecret: This Q568 has very similar markings to your DC1EC501A400 KATMAI. O82528SUA0-0028 vs O82526SUA0-0718. |
