Hi,
yesterday crashed my motherboard. And the PC did not start anymore.
Then I tested my AMD Athlon XP Barton 2600+ in another system.
This system has a MSI KT3 Ultra2 which supports Bartons upto 3000+ Mhz.
So I adjusted the multiplikator to 11,5 and the Vcore to 1,65 and the FSB to 166. Then I had to reboot. But the PC did not start again. A few trys later and the PC startet but it freezed after the memory check. So I could not boot to OS. So I reseted the bios and clocked the CPU down to ~1,8Ghz. Then I came to the bootscreen but then a Bluescreen and reboot. Then the PC did not start again. I have changed the RAM a few times, the Powersupply and and and, but nothing worked...
When I put my 1,7 Mhz Athlon on it everything worked perfectly.
Is my CPU broken now?
kind regards,
Andé |

Eeeeeuuuuuuummmmmmmm............just a guess here....
Did you not notice something anyone?.....
The AMD Athlon XP Barton 2600+ Has a FSB of 333mhz, not 266mhz ! So clocking this at only 166mhz would render unstable !!!
Mind you, they did make a 266mhz version, but I doubt its the one you have since its mutiplier would be 15x not 11.5x(the 11.5x is for the 333FSB Barton).
Check your number----> Barton (333FSB) 11.5x AXDA2600DKV4D
----->Barton (266FSB) 15x AXDA2600DKV4C
