Passive adapters sometimes work but like cuttingedgecs said mice must have support for serial communication. Last time I found Logitech ball mouse with green PS/2 port and attached same green PS/2 to SERIAL adapter. It looks like original but even that mice do not want to work on COM. On PS/2 port works like it should. Strange things happens with those adapters.
My recommendation is find a good serial ball mouse like Logitech/Microsoft then clean rollers and ball with chemical and with good material mousepad it will work so good as optical and will costs you a few euros I have that solution and all hardware looks like from same era _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

I wouldn't concern on specific model Cleaned, restored mouse on good mousepad will work almost the same regardless of the model. Ergonomic (case shape) is what makes more comfortable or not. _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |
