I have received AVICC package Today with chips from many forum orders. One chip was so wasted that I wanted to show you how it looked before and after my pain job. Please do not make that sh...t to other member from forum or anyone else. Not telling about that fact of chip condition is a bit turpitude ... no names not even chip name to identify the seller.

That's why I wish more sellers would declare the state of pins. Some of us like to test chips Smile

Indeed.
I run everything I buy. For the most part, the usual sellers here are awesome. I have received some items that were dead or damaged though that was not disclosed so, when in doubt.....ask a question. It ain't gonna hurt anything.

I use tweezers and a metal ruler to straighten the rows. First tweezers every pin. Then I align the entire row with a ruler.

A very nice job of straightening the pins on those IC's Marcin...

I bought this cool looking, but unidentified, white ceramic IC last year and when it arrived it had a lot of very long, 11 mm, badly bent pins.

(Click on the pictures to view the high resolution versions.)

I used hollow tubed, blunt tip injection needles to very accurately straighten the pins and after about 45 minutes it turned out like this, good as new:

I bought this kit that has hollow tubed, blunt tipped injection needles of many different sizes, in order to accommodate the fixing of pins of different diameters and I paid only $14 for it on ebay. It was probably the most worthwhile $14 I have ever spent, because the injection needles allow for very accurate pin manipulation and fixing on a pin by pin basis, for pins of any length and thickness.

The IC measures 41 mm square overall and the gold circuitry part in the center of if measures 21 mm square. It's very unusual because the white ceramic has a mirrored shine to it, not the usual dull matte finish of all other white ceramic IC's that I've ever seen.

I think that this IC's function might have been for some kind of testing purpose, but it might also just be an unfinished package that doesn't have its huge die installed on it yet. My possible unfinished package theory was arrived at because located at the 4 corners of the center gold circuitry area are what look to be manufacturing process positioning marks that I've seen at the 4 corners of dies installed on many other types of modules.

If anyone knows what this IC is please let me know, thanks. Smile

@pixelmanca
I must have a try a method with injection nozzles because your straightening looks impressive. I wonder if nozzle can straight "hooks" - the worst bent. I'm afraid it will strain the base too much and standard small pliers with flat surface will be still irreplaceable.
