schools closed where i live about 2 weeks ago indefinitely but i don't they will be reopening till September.

we started working from home about a week ago. pretty much everyone is practicing social distancing. we do short walks outside towards the end of the day before the sunset.

impossible to find masks, wet wipes, hand sanitizers, toilet paper. no shortage yet on food. gas is record low but we cannot travel anywhere.

interesting times...

The Post Office has decided that the Corona pandemic is a good time to start being very strict on package rules.

They are measuring every parcel for proper size, I have had 2 returned for being 6mm too thick.

Freaking bureaucrats

This means I can no longer ship packages less then 1lb cheaply, minimum charge for International will be $15-18, even for a single CPU

Yeowch. I was looking at getting my stuff shipped when my Itanium arrives. Looks like I'll have to wait more, or buy enough to make it worthwhile Cool .

crazy times ...

we are for 6 months in australia. The school is also closed now. And it is difficult to come back to germany. We booked a flight -> canceled, we booked the next flight -> canceled. Our next try is in 10 days and our visas are running out.

The good thing: here in Australia it is sunny and warm with lots of nature - at home it will be different.

I'll guess that for the visa part, the embassy must be of some help ..

Hope you'll get home safe - and at least enjoy the involunteer stay Smile

Apparently NY, NJ and CT are under consideration for enforced quarantine.

I am currently isolating at home for two weeks as I recently re-entered Australia from overseas. Fortunately, I was allowed to transit domestically before starting isolation. Now anyone arriving in Australia is required to isolated at the port of entry and cannot transit. You are put up in a hotel and more or less confined to your room for two weeks.
They have just introduced regional travel restrictions in Western Australia - you can't even travel to different regions in the state.
Is toilet paper being panic bought in many other countries too? From what I have heard, it started in Australia. Not sure why as we make most of our toilet paper here in Australia. (although that bit of info was probably not widely known till after the panic buying began).
This is what the toilet paper aisle in the shop looked like about three weeks ago. In some shops there are police guarding the aisle to enforce buying limits. Shops sold out of toilet paper, tissues, paper towels, pasta, many types of tinned food, long life milk, hand sanitizer, and any type of non-drinkable alcohol (people are making hand sanitiser at home).

Same thing in Melbourne.
In fact, supermarket in my area were like this for the last 4 weeks.
I was lucky enough to get some toilet paper, tissue and baby formula from Amazon a couple of weeks ago.

Local police also check people driving on the streets and impose fines over $1000 if people breaching the social distancing regulations.

A weekend week at home has been introduced in Russia. Grocery stores, pharmacies and transportation work. Schools, universities, hairdressers, cafes, clubs are closed. In Moscow, banned access to the street without permission. I am in St. Petersburg, the output is not limited yet. Within two weeks I bought food in small batches. I don’t go to the store for two days. On Saturday, toilet paper, pasta, sugar, tea, meat, bread, milk, chocolate, soap were on sale. Rice, millet, buckwheat were already absent. In Russia, they love buckwheat, it ended first.

There is no panic, but alarming.

Alcohol without problems.

Today, St. Petersburg is also ordered not to leave home. Exit only for food and garbage removal. Quarantine until April 5th.

Our public media says they got results of research of "some unknown" scientists the SARS-Cov-2 most likely comes from bats or pangolins. They say that is completely natural source.

I don't want to start discussion about theory of conspiracy but only would like to know if you got the same "story" from mainstream medias ?

We have next restrictions from Tomorrow : some industries have to stop
services. We cann't use parks, beaches, boulevards.
