Does anybody have any information on the Cyrix DRu2? Is it the same as the DRx2?
I'm also wondering what fabrication process was used on Cyrix DLC, DRx2, DRu2, SRx2, SXL2 (5V) and SXL2 (3.6V)? _________________ The only thing I hate more than straightening CPU pins is having CPU's with bent pins in my collection. |

The earliest Cyrix document I have is an abridged 5x86 datasheet. I would love to find earlier docs, or the complete 5x86 datasheet. I do have configuration files for the DRu2 processor though, if you need them (to set up for improved performance in DOS, Windows 3.x and OS2) _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

You bought the DX2 or DRx2 databook? I didn't know there was a DRx2 databook. _________________ The only thing I hate more than straightening CPU pins is having CPU's with bent pins in my collection. |

This is the information I received from somebody else concerning the DRu2. Apparently the DRu2 isn't so much a CPU alone but is rather a CPU kit, which contains an external circuit that doubles the incoming frequency (I assume a PLL of some sort) and handles hardware L1 cache invalidation. Seems that a standard DLC CPU was used in these kits, but the CPU or perhaps the whole kit was renamed the DRu2. Cyrix added the clock doubling and cache invalidation circuitry into the CPU die for the DRx2. If the DRu2 used a standard DLC chip, I'm guessing it only did 20/40 clock doubling, but I suppose Cyrix could have also cherry picked some for 25/50, but I doubt it.
The process used for the DRx2 and DRu2 are likely the same as that for the DLC. _________________ The only thing I hate more than straightening CPU pins is having CPU's with bent pins in my collection. |
