I don't know how many people already know, but I sure its a few. I discovered one day that when you get the blue error screen and your OS wont start, you can run the recovery consle to fix it. Now I've only done this with Windows XP so I not sure if it works on other OS. You will need your WinXP Installation CD to do this.

- Boot from the WinXP CD (as if your going to install Windows)
- Wait until you get the set-up screen where it ask you if you want to install windows or run the recovery consle
- Run the recovery console
- If it shows "D:" type in "C:" or whatever your hard drive is identified as
- When you get "C:", type "chkdsk" and push enter
- It will inspect the drive and if the errors are repairable it will fix them and the OS should run after you restart.

This always worked for me so it should for everyone else. Laughing

Usually CHKDSK command would come up with nothing- then you'd need to do FIXBOOT, which re-writes a new boot sector for the drive. Restart, all set. Smile
