I had some spare QHZF (Broadwell-E B0 step) chips that were v4.
If you can upload a picture of the top of the CPU, it would be easier to tell if it's a V4 or V3, as the IHS design is very different.
If it is a V4, you will probably need a SuperMicro board with a newer BIOS in order to boot it. X99 boards are very very hit-or-miss when it comes to the broadwell-E ES steppings. _________________ My collection |

I think that it is a V4, because it is seems that there is no earlier V3 ES than QGxx. And this is QHxx.
QGxx are almost the latest revision of ES of V3s, so should work like a retail Sspec in any motherboard. So a QHxx should be even better.
Moreover, datecode is 49/2014. So very very late for a V3 Sample (released in september of 2014 so 3 months before this sample).
I think that this an early V4, that's why it is not working in a regular motherboard. _________________ Register on x86-guide.net to manage and share your collection on-line !

Based on the picture, it should be a V3 of some sort. _________________ My collection |

| Latest Haswell-EP I can find is QHGH, and alphabetically next LGA2011-3 is QHUP, Broadwell, so QHRK can be late Haswell. |

Wait, do you mean asus z9pe-d8/16?
It's LGA2011 board, not LGA2011-3 and it absolutely would not work with v3/v4. |

X79 is not compatible with V3 or higher. _________________ My collection |

If you somehow shoved the chip into the Z9, you might have already killed it due to the pinout being different. _________________ My WTB List

then your colclusion cpu's experts please ...
it s seem to be an unknown ES sample , a V4 (based on the production date ) , and a v3 (based on the package)
Maybe , a pre-release of v4 version in a v3 package .
Which mother botherboard shuold i use to test my xeon ?
