|
|
Saw this auction on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8818094452&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1
I have a similar cpu, same speed and s-spec, but mine does not have the word "processor" under "pentuim" on the gold cap. I found mine in gold scrap lot . I am wondering if this auction shows a "reasonable" value for this processor? Is it really that rare? The bid history leaves me wondering.
Thanks,

I don't think it's a realistic price. It looks to me like the seller gotlucky, with someone wanting it enough to pay the reserve price. _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

| I purchased one of these with the processor text about a month ago in a little better shape for $15 for a display I am building. That one was properly listed to attract attention just as the one you posted was. I think realistic price for most that I have seen (and I constantly watch FDIV auctions is $15-$25. zizmo got lucky on this one and he must be one happy seller. You should know, however, that without the "processor" text an sx835 is worth a good deal less than with. I would say about $10 tops in good shape of course anything is possible at auction (that includes it selling for $1.00 as well as $100.) Nice find though. |

Thanks for the replies. I thought it a little too much to hope that my chip was really that rare, but I am still happy to have a nice example of an early gold top pentium with the FDIV bug!

I thought that shill biodding was when a seller puts in fake bids (or gets someone else to) in order to push up the high bid from someone else. The 5 bids over $18 in this case were all from the same person, who appears not to have initially realised what the minimum reserve value is on eBay. They could be messing zizmo around with fake bids, but I've seen that user ID on several listings this week. I think it's just a(nother) buyer with too much money. _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

Another thing. Under his profile he has a score of 0.
First time on ebay? I wonder if zizmo will get paid. |

He didn't spend much on other auctions. In my opinion it's a beginner collector who doesn't know yet how much chips are worth. Beginners are always tend to overpay for relatively common chips.
