|
|
This board was designed by Cubic and seems to have been intended for use in various weapons control systems for a few models of fighter jet (F-101, F-102, F-106, maybe some others).
It features a National Semiconductor Mozer DigiTalker 54104 speech synthesis chip. These were fairly early synthesizers and are somewhat rare nowadays. They were used in a couple arcade games and other applications. Apparently fighter jets were another place where the chip lived.
It is a reasonable guess that these were added to bark at the pilot in case they needed to do something (ie: "pull up!") or were otherwise preoccupied and unable to look at an instrument cluster.
The AMD AM2764-25/BXA would have stored the various voice samples. Although this one seems to have had its sticker removed, so I am not expecting the data to have survived. (who knows though, maybe something is salvageable?)
The board's part number is 188138, serial number 248.
The board has a layer of conformal coating on most components other than the eeprom. (As this was designed for aerospace use)
$40 and it's yours. _________________ My collection
