Hi,

I have an intel C4004 grey trace with one pin corroded. Could you please let me know how much should I price this in eBay ? I have been a buyer mostly and this would be my first sell.

Thanks,
Rahul

Put an auction @ $1, and let the market define the correct price.

It would help to also show a side view, as from above it looks like two missing pins with nothing remaining to help repair them.

Just look at the last one sold. For most people it doesnt matter about how early the date, they just want to own one. In March one sold for $1,8015. Was in good condition and it was bidding not buy it now.

I got one recently in a gold recovery auction, 30 pounds of misc vintage boards, late 60s to 80s and among the poorly shipped/packed package was a beautiful 4004 'Zebra` grey trace and also socketed.

I dont know why most of you guys take pictures and have a database/spreadsheet/pdf for your collection. I just look at my collection, especially if I need to do double check anything

Why do stamp collectors keep stamps in albums? Why do collectors pay more for items that are considered imperfect by some? I use a spreadsheet to catalogue my collection as it makes it easier to see what I have. Many of us have 1000s of processors. Some collect every variantt of the items we collect. Some keep records that help identify what date very early chips were produced (for example, a grey traces C4004 from the first production run may be worth more to someone than one produced 2 years later).

There are lots of reasons people take photos, displaying collections publicly or privately.

I have thousands of processors and GPUs I just dont see the need. I just have a piece of paper with everything I wanted and I mark it off once I have it, or mark off a certain mhz since of course so many have different speeds or socket.

How many here collect working units or does it not matter to most? I treat mine as they work at least CPUs and Ram but ill never know because it doesnt matter. For the boards I rotate them in and out for displaying or they are sorted in tubs. Gold cap and gold leg chip boards are the only blards I collect the more the better.

Some of us like to use or at least test things in our collections, others collect anything. Personally, I plan to test my whole collection over time (1000s of CPUs, 500+ graphics cards, 150+ motherboards). Others just want chips that look nice. We all have different reasons for collecting, but ultimately many collections are also an investment.

Agreed it is a investment. Chips will only become worth even more over time or anything collectable and or the hardware that helps run said items.

Im buying up low priced buy it now auctions that are extremely high grade, keeping what I want sell anything cheap than hoard everything else till gold hits $3000 per troy oz. Most of it is 60s and 70s HP boards that are completely plated in gold, military contacts, cannon connectors all brands, 386/486 cpus mainly but anything with gold caps, any samples/prototypes and anything military that looks good.

It has to be the right price as well, at least double my money as it sits rights now, of course more when gold goes up. Ive been surprised to find auctions selling a lot cheaper during the pandemic. I have put together over 50 pounds of edge card connectors with wire wrap mainly for under $175. These are all NOS. Even old school Winchester electronics connectors that I wish I still had but gave them away to a friend as a birthday present.

Check out owltech when you get a chance, youldnt believe the yield from some russian connectors. I was shocked and I refined ewaste for 10 years, nothing old of course hence my hoarding problem, its not that bad yet

Did you ever let the new Quad Pentoum Pro I gave you going in the end? I always wondered! I also remember giving you a boxed Archimedes 3010 because I was feeling guilty that you come all that way, and I wouldn’t let you keep the matching CPU set that came with it! I sometimes think about that…and let out a healthy ‘doh!!’, whilst hitting my forehead with my hand!

Now you've got me wondering. I don't remember the quad PPro, will have to search for it. It has to be somewhere Smile

Would like to also mention that some techs know how to replace damaged legs/pins... do not know anyone to refer you to, but that might be worth your while, as most collectors prefer 'perfection' -- especially when it's an Intel 4004. A repaired pin is better than no pin. Some collectors would collect a Big Foot with only one foot... but most would prefer all 10 toes!
