Out of curiosity, is it possible to go from QFP to PGA?
There should be an adapter out there.
Some 386 boards have a QFP and a very good layout, slots, ram slot but are limited to desoldering and resoldering a new cpu.
Bios issues aside.
Thanks! |

I believe QFP "sockets" do exist, but might be tricky to track down for 386. I've seen them used for some of the mobile Cyrix 5x86 QFPs. _________________ My collection |

They come up for 386SX at least _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

That would be a QFP socket that needs a qfp cpu in it and then soldered to the motherboard?
QFP and PGA shouldn't be pin compatible? That would require an "interposer", just to pass on the signals to the pga socket.
Just wondering. |
