Here is a nice lot of prototypes from Microsystems International Ltd
MIL was one of Intel's primary second sources in the early 1970s, making EPROMs, PROM, RAMs, and even CPUs for Intel.
Here we get to see the development of the very first EPROM.
The 1601/1602 and 1701/1702 use the same die, the 1x02 Supports dynamic access whereas the 1x01 is static only. Its likely the ones hand marked 1701 the dynamic circuitry failed, so they got used in static only mode.
The 1702A was a significant revision and you can see the die size changed a fair amount.
The 1301 is a metal MaskROM compatible with the 1601/1701, These appear to be test chips, some labeled 1301 on the back, but the die looks more like a test chip, with only 12 bond wires attached. The text on the die is covered by the bond wires but looks like '123456' and '?3011B'
