Hi I picked up a couple of CPUs a few days ago and was wondering how rare they were.

The first is a Pentium 3-S 1.4Ghz (tualatin) 512K l2 1.45v cpu

and the other is a

AMD K6-2+ 570Mhz ACZ which looks like the rarer of the 2.

Does anyone have any idea of how common these are?

AMD K6-2+ 570Mhz ACZ is not common. It's an embedded processor, and, like for many other embedded processors, it's not easy to find it on eBay or in online/BM computer stores.

Pentium III is common, maybe a bit less common than other Pentium III processors.

Pentium !!!-S isn't very common CPU, because it was produced for server market. And now P!!!-S usually costs not less, than 100-150$ per one processor in computer stores.
Also note, that P!!!-S 1400 is the toppest model.

K6-2+ was positioning for notebooks, nor for embedded systems, nor for desktops. It is rarer processor, than K6-2 or K6-III, as you said...
The most interesting (and rarest Wink) CPU from AMD for Socket7 was K6-III+.

There are two variations of K6-2+ CPUs - K6-2+ mobile processors and K6-2E+ embedded processors:

K6-2E+ embedded processors are marked on the chip as K6-2+, so it'very difficult, if not impossible, to distinguish them from mobile processors. I don't know for sure if 570ACZ is a mobile or embedded CPU. I think it's an embedded CPU because I didn't find any mention on the net of a laptop based on AMD K6-2+ 570 MHz.

Sorry about placing this under vintage, we all have different ideas as to what is classed as vintage Smile.
It was very surprising when I purchased a Pentium 4 2Ghz system and my Pentium 3 1.4 seemed faster at doing things, sometimes it felt the same - I ended up selling the P4 and keeping the old system.

This one can be rare notebook upgrade Wink
And I don't find any clues that this CPU is embedded...

Why do you think so?

See the picture below. So far I haven't seen even one embedded K6-2E, K6-2E+ or K6-IIIE+ processor that has been marked as such.

Me too. But I think there are ways to distinguish them, with core voltage and/or letters after frequency marking, no ?

This was my assumption too. This is why I think the K6-2+/400ATZ in the picture is an embedded processor.

As for 570ACZ - it could be a mobile processor too. Wouldn't it be nice if some AMD employee, or former AMD employee, could provide us information about K6-2+ and other AMD processors?
