Hi,
just got a second hand amd socket A cpu was advertised as xp 2400 but seems to have 2600 on the identity badge.cant get it to run over 1.3ghz. have tried all different bus frequencies memory frequencies but nothing helps,system hangs and post message says cpu overclocked! or cpu wrong settings.i have a good fan,running about 80-85c and the motherboard is asus A7V8X FSB266/200mhz ddr memory.
can anyone help?i dont realy know what im fiddling with in the bois setup.cheers!!  |

Yes, 80c - 85c is too hot. What are the markings on your processor?

ok thanks will check the serial numbers later.i have a fan and heatsink rated up to xp2800.
i also think my bios needs updating to support the cpu properly but that doesnt explain the temperature!! |
