AMD designed Socket F to be used for more then just CPUs, though in reality this didn't happen much
There was a few though

Cray also made some socket F chips. I recall a few past eBay listings. _________________ My collection |

Wow see this "CPU" first time I have one Socket-F motherboard. Very interesting will this cpu or what is this? I do not understand completely will work in ordinary boards?
Who knows English well, write a summary of what it is and what it is used for |

They typically are custom chips rather then CPUs.
They were mainly made to take advantage of HyperTransport, where the CPU socket is really just one interface to the HyperTransport bus, so things that needed fast access to the rest of the system (its CPUs and memory etc) things like extra multiprocessing support, or networking, or memory controllers etc _________________ New for 2025!
