Here are some very nice and uncommon parts
These are Zilog Z8 Z8612CS MCUs.
The Z8612 is the prototyping part of the Z8611 MaskROM Z8
In the Z8612 the internal ROM is removed (probably just disabled) and the address/data lines for it buffered and brought out so external memory can be used.
In this case in the very unusual 64pin Shrink DIP package.
The extra 24 pins are 12 Address lines, 8 data lines and 4 control signals allowing for a 4K external memory to be used.
It was much more common to see these Z8613 piggyback where the EPROM could sit on top then these large DIPs, probably because the piggyback could use the same 40pin footprint.
These run at 8MHz to match that of the standard Z8
They are bran new old stock from 1985
15x Zilog Z8612CS Z8 Prototypers $17 each or a pair for $30 _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!
