Hi all,
thanks for the speedy replies again
debs3759, thats the exact same one I found on eBay and thanks for the info didn't know that could be done.
Is CPUShack regularly in these forums do you know?
mavroxur, that was my thinking exactly, thought it would have been a universal heatsink
UPDATE - I have ordered it through eBay from the US seller through Paypal, didn't want it to go and not be able to find one so I paid the extra and I must have got my figures wrong last time as it only worked out at £24 so thats not a bad price anyway including delivery and taxes.
I will await its arrival and hopefully it will be well packaged |

Yes, he is around pretty much every day. He is also a moderator here, and one of our most prolific traders. He handled a little over a ton of packages for members last year. _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.

Hi all,
Just a quick update....
Heatsink arrived today so I installed it along with the new memory and SSD.
Fired it up and got the 'CD/DVD drive device driver is missing' error so manually had to try all the drivers for the laptop and finally found that it was the Renesas USB3 controller that it needed and once installed allowed me to continue with the OS installation.
Also, when booting a warning pops up -
"Warning: A 65w AC power adaptor has been detected which is less than the recommended 90w adapter originally shipped"
I presume this is due to the new CPU power draw as the 65w one is the original that came with the laptop, I've ordered a new 90w power adapter.
Anyway, CPU detected and running a treat, fastest its ever been so many thanks for all your help guys

Yep; the new CPU requires more power and the BIOS has signaled the board to check for a 90W adapter now. Running with a 65W can limit clock speeds, limit battery charging speed and / or prevent the battery from charging periodically during periods of high power demand.
Glad to see it all worked! |

 | I recommend getting a 130W PSU, they're not that expensive. |
