It is a resistor network. Smile Put a meter across opposite pins, you will probably read 4K7 on your multimeter - unless the pins arrangement is different. Look at the track layout on the PCB. - or websearch the datasheet for the pin-out.

DIP ( dual in-line pin ) package are common for resistor networks, also SIP ( single in-line pin ) . They are VERY useful for terminating a bus or for pulling up/down many inputs/outputs with ONE component. I use them all the time with microcontrollers. Remember SCSI busses? you had to terminate the end of the SCSI chain with a pair of SIL resistors.

ohhh yeah i do.. i think i got few SCSI cards here... i just look at the card and a other on i have, it got two Beckman chips on it.. one like the posted pic here and one with the nummers 898-3-R30
