Remember the "Continuous Edge Graphics" ramdac? It had anti-aliasing built in that made 640X480 look like super VGA. It was only around for a short time, hi-color dacs took over the world. One of my old VGA cards has one, but I don't know which one. Edsun had no fab, so they were made by someone else, and bore no obvious marks that identified them as Edsun parts. Anyone know the part number that was on it? It occurs to me that this is a mildly collectible part and I would like to save it, if only I knew which one it is.
Thanks!

Just a guest here, but from what I remember the Edsun CEG dac had a symbol that looked like a circle made out of squares on it. I remember trying for months to get one back then, and when I finally got it, it was pretty wow to even hold the thing in my hands Smile

Ahh, finally found it! The CEG RAMDAC was fabbed by Analog Devices, and bore only the Analog logo. The part numbers were AD7141, AD7146, and AD7148. They were spectacular for still images, but the embedded DSP was too slow for moving images. They are still available from Rochester Electronics, if you are willing to pay $13.33!

They recycle part numbers? I'm finding that the AD7148 is a capacitance to digital converter for touch screens.

I have Never known Analog to use duplicate numbers, perhaps the article I used for reference is wrong:

I see what happened, the article does have a mistake. The ADV numbers are the CEG DACs, not the standard parts. That still doesn't explain the duplication though.
