Hi, I have two motherboards and I tried to switch CPUs (the ASUS site says that the components were compatible) After that, the 2 motherboards turn on, but won't get any type of signal, no sound from the speaker neither. I've done a lot of testing: different PSU, GPU, RAM, CMOS.. solutions?
MB: ASUS A7A266/ASUS A7V266-E
CPUs: AMD ATHLON XP 2400+/ the other one should be XP 2000+

Disconnect power, pull the CMOS battery, wait a few minutes, try powering it back on again. That should set it back to factory defaults and if it's a compatible chip and the chip/board aren't bad, it should find a default FSB and at least POST.

ASUS A7A266 has a jumper between the battery and floppy connector to clear the CMOS. Short that while the battery is removed. (http://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socka/m1647/a7a266/a7a266-104.pdf page 14)

On the ASUS A7V266-E, the jumper is just to the right of the battery and above the floppy connector. (http://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socka/kt266a/a7v266-e/a7v266e-100.pdf page 14)

If they are Thorton cores, you need at least bios 1015.001 for support. I'm betting you're on an older bios.

Google is your friend. Wink
I'm pretty sure bios version is your problem.
