|
|
Does any of the VIA C3 CPUs (for socket 370) support SMP? Based on internet sources the answer seems to be no, but at the same time it appears as if some core versions could support SMP (or at some point in their development SMP was envisioned).
Joshua: Doesnt matter, cant seem to find these anyway as they really don't exist
Samuel: No
Samuel2: No
Ezra: No
Ezra-T:No
Nehemiah C5P: ?
Nehemiah C5XL: ?
Am I missing something from the list? Any answer or personal experiences are appreciated.
..There is no why other than interest on the matter. |

Yes, Nehemiah core supports SMP, and there is at least one real product, google EPIA-DP motherboard.
Not sure was it C5XL or C5P, it's eden-n so probably C5XL. However datasheet states smp is not supported for both. |

Yes, I have VT-310DP, it is based on the latest Nehemiah core based Eden-N CPUs (C5P I believe). So, theoretically, CN400 chipset supports SMP but in practice it's the only board with 2 CPUs and it was always scarce to get (currently almost impossible, I would wish to replace mine with unused or lightly used one ). Not sure about those socket 370 C3 CPUs, I think they don't support SMP. That being said, the board is still very underperforming to any competing even single core solution, that's probably the reason they didn't try to implement something similar for C7, and VIA Nano already had dual-core CPUs. It also had various problems: non standard audio header, their frequency scaling application worked on one core only (same if you try to "overclock" CPU in BIOS), southbridge doesn't support anything beyond SATA I (autonegiotation issue). Nevertheless, I am keeping it for the unique design. _________________ http://picasaweb.google.com/vezhlys/CPUsCollection |
