My Lenovo is only 2yrs old I bought it new (Manufacturer says they were a 4 yr old model though). The test says my Intel Core i7 6700HQ @ 2.60GHz Skylake 14nm Technology will not support windows 11. Does anyone know if I can up grade it to meet win 11 specs and if what to? I don't want to melt anything. Power adapter is 230 watt. Motherboard is LENOVO Allsparks 7A (U3E1). RAM - 16.0GB Dual-Channel Unknown @ 1064MHz (15-15-15-35) and Graphics is - Generic PnP Monitor (1920x1080@60Hz)
Intel HD Graphics 530 (Lenovo)
4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M (Lenovo) ForceWare version: 466.47
O/S windows 10 Pro. |

Windows 11 needs an 8 series Intel processor, which is not compatible with 6 series motherboards (I have the same issue with my desktop PC). You are out of luck.
There are supposed to be workarounds though (I haven't tried it yet, but might on an AM3 system soon)

Your CPU is soldered to the motherboard and is not easily upgradeable (not gonna say it's impossible but it would be extremely cost-prohibitive if it could be done)
I believe there was some murmurs of microsoft backing off on some of the CPU requirements back to Kaby Lake, maybe Skylake if enough people make a fuss. _________________ My collection |

You're correct; he's out of luck. The i7-6700HQ is only offered in a BGA package. His CPU is soldered. |
