My Hanns-G HG281D (1920×1200 28") is slowly wearing out (starts turning on/off in the evenings lol) So looking at replacements for it.

A bit more resolution would be nice, and a bit bigger, so the text size is roughly the same, so was looking at 2560 x 1440 monitors

These 2 Acers in particular, one curved, one flat
Acer ED323QUR Abidpx 31.5 Inches WQHD (2560 x 1440) Curved

Or

Acer EB321HQU Cbidpx 32" (Actual size 31.5") WQHD 2560 x 1440

Thoughts on to curve or not (monitor sits in a corner desk so in some ways the curve could use the space better)

You can replace the capacitors in the old monitor and continue to use it

If not consider the corner issue, I'd choose a flat one. I'm still not used to curved monitors.

Looks like you can't move them up and down, so that can be a problem if you don't have your own monitor arm.

Unless you got a stupidly large desk, just go with a flat panel.

Probably will, at least as a backup

Current set up: (second monitor is a Acer V223W)

Oh wow, I had one of those too years ago. Tossed it because it's VGA input became too noisy.

I love my curved monitor, and would never go back to flat...

I like and use Dell monitors from U series (currently Ultrasharp U2715h) for many years as they do not fatigue my eyes so much as others do.
I was a step from a try of AOC Q3279VWF with MVA panel which have a good reviews.

I'd say it depends on the width and aspect ratio. If you go too crazy wide, your viewing angle will be awkward torward the sides from your point of view. And, if you want a 32:9, they're almost all curved for that very reason.

To preserve vision, it is better to use two identical monitors at the same height, and more light in the room. I did not deal with curved monitors, but the option with a 2K flat monitor on an IPS matrix seems to me pretty. Overpayment for a curved monitor, in my opinion, is not advisable.

From above flat have IPS panel when curved VA so I would go for VA instead. Black and colors should be more juiced and less faded.

I am using IPS curve ones for 3+ years. All good

If you haven't bought yet. Probabay try Dell outlet, sometimes they have great deals like 50% off retail price, comes with the same 3 years warranty.

Avoid OLED ones. It is good for games and movies, but terrible for text and web browsing.
