I couldn't care less about the 1102, what ever it is. (But then im not a collector by chip68 standards.) Just because a chip is rare and there are not many known to exist makes them collectibles by everyone.

Am i crazy or does anyone else not just have "feeling" for certain chips? (not particularly the 1102.)

With a little work I could probably create a list of chips that are uncommon (or even *RARE*), but which are currently of no interest to me Smile I also like to know when I buy a chip that it is testable, as well as being in as good a condition as I can get. A working chip is worth far more to me than a dead one, and likewise a desoldered chip is worth less than a socket pull or an NOS chip (although more than a dead one, especially if it's an early or rare chip).

microcontrollers, perhaps the most important cpu's made, since they are in EVERYTHING, and few people collect them.

I've started collecting MCUs, but don't have many yet. Now that my collection is more than 500 CPUs I've had to expand a little to keep finding chips that I can afford Smile

I am going to limit my microcontrollers to PICs. Look out for the tasty JW development ones. Again, probably not a chip/range for the purist(s). They sit well with my Intel collection.

I'm a purist - I collect purely those chips which interest me and which I can afford icon_yikes

I'm gonna have a chatwith my local, old-skool electronic supplier and see what other old stuff he has in his attic Smile
