| It's a Mac G3 Overdrive style board/cpu to make your G3 into a G4. It's one of the lower speed ones unfortunately (these were made at up to 1GHz). I'd expect that the higher speed ones would be the ones sought after by those looking to put an Overdrive chip in their G3, so the demand on yours might be low. I'd start at $150 and see what offers you get; but you might be waiting a while for a sale. If you want to get rid of it quickly you're probably talking somewhere in the $30-$50 range. |

I don't imagine you'll sell it here for $100. The CPU on the adapter is reasonably common (they sell here for <=$5), and while the Sonnet adapter it's on is uncommon, it's not particularly interesting looking or unique as an idea. Collect-ability isn't just about rarity, it's about if anyone actually wants it. For a CPU collector yours is interesting, but not interesting enough to spend that much on.
You will normally get more money selling old hardware to people who would actually use it. This is where my $150 evaluation would apply. It's old Apple hardware, so I'd try find a retro Apple forum.
A quick Google search pulls up macos9lives.com, and a few clicks shows there's some interest in Sonnet Overdrives there. I'm sure you can find more sites with more searches.
As I said though, you might need to be patient for the right buyer to show up... 30 year old Mac owners looking to upgrade their computer to perform like a 25 year old one exist, but aren't plentiful.
Best of luck. If it doesn't work out, you will likely find a buyer in this forum (but more likely in the $30-$50 range I mentioned). |
