I have been chasing this interesting chip for a while now and I managed to do two birds with one stone therefore the spare I have is available for trade. I looked it up in the forum however could not find any info on it. I believe some of the older collectors do have this one so maybe they can shade some light on its use.

It is in mint condition, no missing pins, no chips. It looks like a NOS. The AMD is there to demonstrate the size only. It is HUGE!

I would like to trade it with another eye candy, MCM or a rare sample/prototype. Let me know what you have for trade and I am sure we can work something out. PM me your offers with photo links please.

I will wait till the end of the month to give everyone a chance.

Cheers,

Alp

Oh wow thats hilarious, I JUST got the PCB version of that today
Its a DRAM accelerator, the FEDC chips (2) are Error Detection/Correction) the other chip (DRAC) is the DRAM controller.

These are made by Cypress, part number should be CYM7232 or 7264 came in 25 33 and 40MHz versions

Interesting. They are both CYM7232S40HGC, I guess this makes it a 40MHz version.

I got one of these beauties some time ago too. :-)

If you want more information, there is even a 80-page datasheet on http://www.datasheetarchive.com
Just search for CYM7232S40HGC

Direct link (not sure if this is a permanent or temp link):
http://pdf.datasheetarchive.com/indexerfiles/Scans-058/DSA2IH0039816.pdf

The datasheet says the IC supports i486, i860, Pentim, 68040, 88110, Sparc, R4000 and others.

Does anybody know in what kind of systems this was used?
Probably not a standard PC...
