Gentleman and ladies long time no see. I hope all of you are doing good. I come to pick your brain a little. Even though I think I know answer and it is hard for you it will be hard to say without trying here it is anyway.
I just found interesting CPU and I sadly do not have means to test it. That particular type sell for over 100 quid on ebay. My issue is moral one, I do not want to list it since I cant test it and it looks to me it may be damaged.
My question for you (more knowledgeable people) is that is it possible it will be working even though there is crack on top right corner and frankly all sides of center die do not look good to me.
I mean is there a possibility it may be working and I shall try to test it or it will be a waste of my time?

Send it to me, I have a Precision M6300 to test it in. (and am VERY interested if it's working!)
also, how are we supposed to see if the die's intact without you cleaning off the paste beforehand? |

I saw Athlons XP 3200 with damaged corners that works.
Not sure about stable work.
It's all about your wish to check your luck.
But there are suggestions that are better to avoid. |

I'd test it. The circuitry doesn't extend to the very edges of the die, so I'm unsure whether the larger chip would affect it. It's only a surface chip as well, and from the photo it's difficult to see how deep it is. It's a Core 2 Extreme, so too uncommon to throw if it might be good.

Thank you for trying to help me out with this one. I would be happy to list it for about 30 euro if it is in working order. I am open to the idea to send it to someone who can test it and who may be interested to keep it if it will be in working order or as a collectible if not working.

| Wrong. Penryn-QC is the Q9xxx and the QX9300 series of CPUs. This was a X9000. |
