Hi

does someone know what type of wire is used in the back of this CPU.

picture of the back

I see a lot this type of wire in old mil test equipment. its like stronger than copper. tin coated? but they are compared to modern tin coated wire much lighter.

this is wrapping wire... very nice for electronics work but I wish the insulator coating would scrape easier or at least melt easily when soldered... you have to gently cut it or the wire breaks easily once soldered

you can fond reels of it on ebay for like 20€

Tnx I had a hunch it was something special. And I was saving what I scrapped. Although the pieces are at longest 50cm.
Its impressive how a hair thick wire could be so strong.

I use is also for antenna wire, very easy to unroll 10m and draw it through two poles...

but I do find a lot of the time in old military test equipment this type of wire. super thin aswell as with more endurance than the regular copper wire.

let me open a thread in vintage electronics and I can post a pic of the boards that still survived me. I do have aswell a large ammount of old server PSU. but they are from early 2000. not from the 70, 80 or 90`s.

I do have a radio from the 50's that im gonna scrap some day.
