Just put my hand on a very early "production" C8086. On this thread (http://www.cpu-world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=30986), there is a mention to a S2805 C8086 with a square lid and a early date code (WW27'7Cool.

This one is even earlier (WW22'78 - before the launch of the 8086) and with an earlier unknown SSpec : S2804. Shocked

And of course, I tested it on the UCA. And it works fine! Very Happy

Wow, never seen earlier than that (non Es), congratulations Very Happy !
Looks like some new C8086 are appearing out of thin air recently :p ...

I loved my own C8086 but now all these earlier samples in great shape recently found make me want to hunt for an even earlier one...
At least one with squared lid.

Hi,

Sorry... digging up an old thread. Interesting chip as I have a non-ES C8086 S2805 manufacturing date 7827. So, somewhere in the 5 weeks between these chips the S- number changed.
