I'd consider it spam or a scam if someone PMs you as soon as they join the forum, without ever posting a thread or comment. I didn't think we allowed PMs with no posts.

It is actually surprising that the Forum is not inundated with Spam given that there is not even a Captcha in the Registration Form...

CAPTCHAs do jack shit when you can hire an army of indians for pennies on the dollar to complete them. That or using CAPTCHA autosolvers.
The only thing that helps against forum spam is check what new users post and do pattern matching, as their MO usually is very transparent: post random shit that is tangentally related to the topic at hand and edit their posts to add whatever they want to shill after a while. |
