The Crusoe was a x86 processors from the early 2000s that used a Virtual Machine to translate x86 instructions into its VLIW native instructions.

It was know for its pretty low power, as well as rather low performance, but found use in embedded applications as well as a few laptops.

These were fab'd by IBM, and the 5800 added some features as well as a die shrink from the 0.18u of the original 5400
